Working Musician’s Basses

We’ve gotten some compelling used double basses in the shop this spring, a diverse bunch which all share a couple qualities. First off, they all have been played a lot. Call them workhorses, axes, gig-ready…these basses have been out making music since day one. There’s something special about the resonant qualities of a well-played instrument. The wood is well used to pulsing, flexing and breathing – such instruments just sound awake.

Each of these contrabasses, which range from really good to brilliant, has also had a notable modification since new. One of their major resonating plates has been replaced over the years. As such, they now represent serious bargains for the working musician – a legit 20-30% savings off their less travelled peers. All radiate serious character and await your audition at the Upton workshop!
