The Upton Bass Transport Wheel lessens the load while transporting your double bass. Simple and sturdy design keeps you and your bass comfortably mobile.

Description

The Upton Bass Transport Wheel: Are you tired of lugging around your upright bass? The convenient Upton Bass Transport Wheel will help to lessen the load without cumbersome fancy gimmicks that Velcro or strap to your bass. Our simple yet strong design keeps you and your bass comfortably mobile, and is guaranteed to reduce the strain of lugging your bass. Using the same pneumatic wheels used in high quality motorized wheelchairs, our transport wheels will last as long as your bass! Our double bass transport wheel mounts easily into your current endpin hole. Simply slip out your double bass endpin and insert the double bass wheel for travel. The pin of our bass wheel has a flat cut-away to correspond with the thumbscrew of your endpin assembly, allowing you to set the wheel pointing in the direction of your choice.

Amateur and pro double bassists alike have been safely using bass endpin wheels for decades; however, still use common sense when wheeling your valued double bass around as drastic drops and bangs can cause serious damage. No jumping curbs or bunny hops!!

One rod size of your choice is included with the purchase of your Upton Bass Transport Wheel. PLEASE SPECIFY THE ROD SIZE IN THE CUSTOMIZATION TAB ABOVE BEFORE PLACING THE ITEM IN YOUR CART. Shaft sizes available are: 8mm=5/16″, 10mm=3/8″, 13mm=1/2″, 14mm=9/16″

For those of you who have asked, 13mm=1/2″ fits Kay and Engelhardt Double Basses that have the original factory installed endpin.

Wow, the wheel is great! Really is strong, I think it could even transport me!
Also, I ordered it yesterday morning, and got it by UPS today at noon. (and that was on standard ground shipping – from Connecticut to NYC).
    Thanks!

Needing a new transport wheel, Eric suggested I try the UB Double Bass Transport Wheel. Routinely I’ll have to bring minimal equipment, and instead of unloading first, then driving to the parking garage, and coming back to set up, this time: I parked first, and wheeled my Upton Travel-Bass in front with my amp bungeed to a mini folda-wheel truck behind me – what a breeze! I was at the gig, set up and parked within about 15 minutes! The wheel is very compact, lightweight and can be stored under my car’s tailgate deck. Feels comfortable to “drive” – just hop over the potholes and curbs. (No, I don’t need a license to drive this!) The UB wheel came with a 1/2″ carbon-fiber post to match my Upton carbon-fiber endpin! Thanks Upton!

The wheel fit perfectly! Upon ordering, I received an email asking me to send a photograph of my endpin because the endpin had been changed since buying my Upton Bass. I just used the wheel in NYC on my way to a session and it rolled beautifully!

A really great wheel. It fits perfectly with my instrument and is very durable for city commuting.
One innovation I would recommend for future models is some sort of brake mechanism.
Lugging this on the subway can be tricky since you have to find a way to keep the wheel from straying forward. This can be a tall task during peak hours when there are more people than usual on board.
Nevertheless, I have made do. The wheel does exactly what it is advertised to, and it is, in my opinion, the most ideal way to transport your bass as opposed to, say, the buggy.
