This Emanuel Wilfer Double Bass, 1998 is the culmination of four generations of experience and old master’s tradition. A ¾ size round back gamba model, this Wilfer double bass is an incredibly versatile instrument with a broad tone spectrum. Easy response and playability are the trademarks of instruments from the Wilfer workshop. This bass is fully carved with inlaid purfling, and features a medium grained spruce top and moderately arched flamed maple back, ribs, and neck. The gears are brass Tyrolean style tuners from the Rubner Workshop. It has a red-brown varnish with an amber base.
This Wilfer double bass was meticulously maintained by its former owner, and it has all of the paperwork and service records to prove it. It performs and plays well, just as a Wilfer should, and it was recently listed as overall “good” condition by a big NYC shop. Used as a working instrument for the last 17 years, it shows light cosmetic wear which is expected for an instrument of its age. It is setup and ready for you to play with Spirocore strings, bridge adjusters, and a Mooradian bass bag.
