Very neatly built Rudolph Oberlander Double Bass dated 1977. Oberlander was a well regarded Czech builder of fine double basses and cellos until the mid-1980s.
Oberlander started his own independent shop in the mid-1960s outside of Prague offering a small selection of original instruments.
This flatback pattern features deep ribs, wide bouts and fine attention to build detail. Two piece back with tight flamed Maple. Note the interesting bridge placement with long hooked C-bouts, ff-holes and extra long fingerboard. Careful bracing work inside and unique features throughout.
