August Martin Ludwig Gemunder c1858
Born in Ingelfingen (Wurtemberg), Germany in 1814 and immigrated to Springfield, Massachusetts in 1846. There is conflicting data about when he moved to New York and if his brother George (another fine maker!) worked with him upon his immigration to America. If one of our sources is correct, this double bass bearing the date 1858 would have been made while in Springfield, MA.
