SOLD: John Juzek double bass Prague 1930’s

-

A great sounding Juzek, Prague 1930’s

Description

John Juzek Double bass, Prague c1930’s.

This Juzek double bass was most likely made by the Wilfer workshop in Germany and imported into New York City where it became a Juzek. THe Wilfer workshop was started in 1905 and is currently still making double basses, now in the families fourth generation of ownership!

This bass includes a Mooradian bag, a new bridge by Upton Bass, a full circle pickup and is currently strung with Thomastik Super-Flexible strings (which surprisingly sound GREAT on this Juzek Bass, so while not our first choice of strings, we decided to leave them on).

Upper Bout (widest): 19″
C Bout (narrowest): 14 3/4″
Lower Bout (widest): 26 1/2″
Top Length: 43 1/2″
Back Length (including button): 44 1/2″
String Length: 42″
Rib Taper: 8 3/8″-7″
