Description
Samuel Kolstein Registered German Double Bass Bow – #571
Zimmermann Model
Made in New York
From the workshop of Kolstein Music, Inc. and Kolstein & Son, Ltd
Samuel Kolstein was largely self-taught as a violin and bow maker. He concentrated on bows producing over 2,000 in various grades.
This particular bow, stamped #571 was made in 1982. It is a nice Zimmerman Pfretzschner swan-head model bow that Samuel worked with Fred Zimmerman to develop in the early 1960s. It is both superbly crafted and elegant. It feels very light and natural and is amazingly responsive and articulate. The attention to detail in its workmanship makes this bow a work of art. Even just the look of the frog is downright sexy!
