Description
This 2012 UB Bohemian Hybrid Deluxe (Opus 389) just came back to our showroom as a trade in. It features a hand-carved European Spruce top with inlaid purfling, and slab-cut laminations of Italian poplar on the flat back and sides. It has several upgrades including: bridge adjusters, rib bumpers, antiqued tuners, and a solo fingerboard. Also included in this sale is a Revolution Solo Pickup, Bass Stand and a Deluxe UB Bass Bag. This bass offers great versatility: the laminated flat back is strong enough for the rigors of everyday use, but has the tone, depth, and resonance of a solid carved top.
This used Bohemian double bass is in our showroom and is ready to go home with you today. It is “played in” and was well cared for by a professional jazz musician. In the double bass world, the term “Bohemian” refers to the instrument building tradition in the western Czech region surrounding Prague the source of the well-sought-after basses by such names as Juzek, Prokop, Bittner and Lutz. In the general sense, Bohemian refers to the artistic wanderer; restless and adventurous, unburdened by extravagance. The UB Bohemian Model Double Bass combines these two notions – renowned quality and frugal sensibility – resulting in a flexible, reliable instrument ideal for a broad range of musicians.
The Bohemian is not about excess. With its simple lines, Gamba-style cornered and deep booming tone, its form is defined by purpose without ornament. Hand-built, with the same ergonomics and playability found in all of our models.
