The Grünert company was founded by Erich Grünert in 1956 in Zwota, a small town in Saxonia with a long tradition of instrument building. 1960, after the family had to flee from the GDR due to political reasons, the company was founded again near Landsberg, Bavaria. In 1970 the company moved to Penzberg, into their own workshop. After Erich Grünert’s death, his son Horst Grünert carried on the business.
