SOLD: German Double Bass circa 1900

-

Exceptional early 20th Century German double bass, offered pre-restoration. Finely crafted fully carved contrabass with tightly flamed maple and original details throughout. We can assist with a range of updating options, or play and plan as you see fit. Repair labels show it has been a New York denizen from early on.

Description

This German Double Bass is an extremely well-crafted instrument likely dating to 1900-1910, imported pre-WWI. Could use updating, but very original. We love the wood, the tuners, the scroll, the ff-holes… A beautiful, classically designed compact contrabass that could be exceptional with some owner-directed restoration.
