Description

Juzek Double Bass, early 1930s, Lou DiLeone Restoration

Labeled John Juzek, #186, 1933. Lou DiLeone restoration – taken down to the wood and revarnished, typical of his overhauls. Neck has a really well-done scarf joint to reduce string length. Brass plates and hat pegs were done here at the Upton Bass shop. A really big sound, healthy tall bridge, modern overstand, big compensated saddle. Atypical of many Juzeks may be Wilfer sourced. Hand-numbered and dated, the age seems correct. Beautiful old highly figured maple. Great player and known to us!

Beautiful bass, with another exemplary Lou DiLeone restoration. Lou always picked great basses to focus on. Wish we could ask him more about it! Sad to learn he did pass away last year. Thanks for being a guiding light, Lou – UB
