Lynn writes: "Here are two audience videos from last week's North Texas Jazz Combo Workshop where I play the WONDERFUL bass you made for me. I am so grateful." Lynn Seaton, artist (Count Basie Orchestra, Diane Schuur, Bucky Pizzarelli), esteemed educator and definitely not Santa in summer disguise, just sent us these vids! Check out trading 4s with pianist Fredrick Sanders on Can't Give You Anything but Love (5:30) and his deft arco solo on Alone Together (4:58). We developed the first Bostonian Model with Lynn, this very bass - his touch brings out all the warm detail of this…
Here's a fully carved round back five-string Bostonian that is pleasing to the eye from every angle. The warm amber finish really shows off the woodgrain with a beautifully arched and recurved poplar back. The low B string is very responsive and playable - even this young it sounds warm and full. What a cool build - antiqued tuners set off the color, a few mother-of-pearl dot markers and finished with a Rev Solo pickup. Every detail of an Upton five string is designed without compromise to balance the demands of the extra string and you can feel it! "Wilson"…
This bass represents the latest evolution of the Bostonian, still a fully carved round back, with poplar back and sides. Long, lyrical Rogeri ff-holes complement the old-world pattern.
