“Patterson” Concord Model Double Bass

Just because Abraham Prescott didn’t make a fully carved bass, doesn’t mean we shouldn’t!

This was a “first” for us.  Now, don’t get us wrong…we’ve made plenty of fully carved basses over the years…almost 100 as of writing this blog post, but this is the first fully carved Concord model Upton Bass.

Using the same stock of domestic maple as we do on almost all of the Concords (check out the Spalted!), and pairing it up with a German spruce top, this Concord is ready to bellow out luscious low notes.  Deep ribs going all the way up to the elongated neck block so we would have just a subtle bend to the back, the air volume of this double bass would measure an incredible amount…and that air volume is the name of our game!  The bigger the bass…the easier our job!

New England inspired and made, we think Abraham would be quite happy with our attempts to stand on his shoulders.
