UB Standard Double Basses are designed to fill the void of quality, handmade double basses available at introductory prices. Over the years we have gotten our hands on every brand of inexpensive factory-built upright bass and have found them to be so lacking in fundamental quality that we could not in good conscience sell or recommend them! Even a relatively modest investment does the player no good if the instrument breaks easily or frustrates musical progress.

The straightforward designs on our introductory double bass, without the option of customizations, allow us to offer excellent package pricing while maintaining our high musical standards. Each bass comes expertly set up and adjusted, with the great playability and resonance we’ve built our reputation on. These are loud, durable instruments that are a blast to play – a perfect place to start or a welcome second instrument for the gigging veteran.
