Description
Restored Bohemian Double Bass, Lou DiLeone Restoration
This Lou DiLeone double bass is a full restoration of a Czech or German gamba pattern double bass that probably dates back to the turn of the 20th Century, fully rebuilt by Lou in 2012. Lou always does an amazing job restoring these instruments to a stylish like-new condition. This example has been completely rebuilt and revarnished, with a new neck. Setup was completed with a thick slab of ebony and Lou’s own carved bridge with wooden adjusters.
We love the mother-of-pearl buttons on the tuners and the flair of this retro rod. Erlin pickup.
Another beautiful bass, restored by Lou DiLeone and handed off for another century. Lou always picked great basses to focus on! Wish we could ask him more about it – sad to learn he did pass away in 2021 – at the age of 100! Thanks for being a guiding light, Lou – UB
