Description
Pirastro Flexocor Double Bass Strings are especially suited for Arco playing, as they have that typical warm orchestra sound and a short sustain. They are constructed of a high-tensile rope core made from carbon steel which is wound with chrome steel. Pirastro Flexocor Double Bass Strings have a quick response, and are instantly playable and stable. These double bass strings offer high flexibility and a large, non-metallic tone. These strings are Pirastro’s reformulated version of the Original Flexocor and offer a warm, strong sound.
This set is available in Soft/Dunn, Medium/Mittel, Heavy/Stark tension or Solo Tuning. Medium tension is recommended for most players. PLEASE MAKE YOUR STRING SELECTION IN THE CUSTOMIZATION TAB ABOVE BEFORE ADDING THE ITEM TO YOUR CART.
Pirastro now makes three variations of Flexocore strings: Flexocor (reformulated from the Original in 1992), Flexocor Originals (THE original, with a higher tension than Flexocor), and Flexocor Deluxe. Gary’s Thoughts: Pirastro Flexocore Double Bass Strings are a little more rubbery under the bow than the Originals. They are more forgiving for a player whose doesn’t enjoy the harshness of the Original. With my bowing ability, these Flexocor strings are probably my favorite of the three varieties. They are similar to Thomastik Belcanto, which is a string I really love.
