Description
A standout feature is a long string length – 44″. For some players, that might be a lot, but don’t let it scare you off too quickly. This bass is very playable, with a surprisingly relaxed feel despite the numbers. It does not feel tight under the hand. If you come into it open-minded, you’ll find it’s not the problem people expect. This bass comes with a Fishman Full Circle pickup in the bridge, but it would also be an excellent gigging jazz bass for someone who wants to play unamplified. It has presence, warmth, and cuts in a piano trio setting.
Right now, the setup leans more toward orchestral, but there’s room to tweak it to your preference. We might do a little fingerboard work, and there’s a minor corner that could use a bit of work, but structurally, it’s sound, and all previous repairs look solid.
This is a whole lot of bass for $6,500 — and the main reason it’s priced so affordably is the string length. For the right player, that’s not a downside, but a feature. It’s a great chance to get a big, bold-sounding instrument without breaking the bank.
