Description
The Ceruti Model by Corey Swan is an immaculate copy of an 1820 double bass by a Cremonese master.
Corey Swan’s Thoughts: “Completed in 2012, this bass was a very fun project because I was able to make it side by side with the original that was being restored at the time. Having the original so close allowed me to capture the character of the 1820 Ceruti. Every time I had a question in the building process, it was like having the Cremonese master right there by my side telling me what he would do.”
Gary’s Thoughts: Upton Bass is proud to represent this contemporary American bass maker, to work closely with him, and offer this instrument for sale. Corey’s craftstmanship and skill is apparent in his work. When bowed, the tone of this double bass is clear, present, and even. When plucked, this instrument packs a punch with a “big bass” sound. I wouldn’t actually say it’s a big bass; in fact, it’s very accessible and playable.
