Description
This classic Czech flat back double bass has a punchy sound – perfect for the serious jazz player or orchestral student. An overall terrific value, this is a great sounding upright bass that is in good condition. It is obvious that the past owner had invested quite a bit of time into the instrument, and any cracks that have since been repaired display an abundance of love and character.
The back of this double bass has been completely rebraced with what appears to be quality work (not done by Upton Bass, but still done very well), and comes with a new soundpost, Gotz endpin, ebony fingerboard and D’Addario Helicore Orchestral strings, and a rough-cut bridge. These features make this upright bass very playable and have a nice in-your-face sound, and the fingerboard is 98% buzz-free. It’s got some nice “growl and grundge” in areas.
Included with this carved flat back double bass is our very own Revolution Solo II double bass pickup, and perhaps the suggestion of upgrading with a C extension for the serious orchestral player. As long as this upright bass is fed and watered over time, it will return to the owner many years of great playing!
The crew at Upton Bass will thoroughly go over this Czech carved bass before shipping, so we can be sure of a good new life with a happy new owner.
The serious bass player searching for a solid flat back double bass may also want to consider the UB Professor Standard Double Bass.
