SOLD: Frank DiLeone, New Haven, Conn, No.51, 1940

A handmade American bass, with great New England flair!

Description

This flat-back double bass, made by Frank DiLeone (father of Lou DiLeone) in 1940, is a beautiful New England hand-crafted instrument perfect for combo players. Focused and sonorous under a bow and punchy and growly when played pizzicato, this bass offers the fullness of a large 3/4 instrument while remaining relatively compact. Completely restored and setup in our workshop, this is a bass Gary knows very well, as he personally oversaw (and worked on himself) on every step of the restoration. Searching for that perfect carved bass with a big sound and not-so-big body? Look no further!
