Description

Herbert Dittrich Double Bass, Wilhelmshoh, Germany

This nicely proportioned Herbert Dittrich double bass has a shop label of this instrument maker from Wilhelmshoh, Germany. The story behind it is that it was built in the Wilfer shop, on a Wilfer bench but made by Mr. Dittrich. So this was built with individual care in a tradition where a maker can build an instrument in a larger shop, even using their tools and forms. The result is a lovely gamba-cornered German contrabass with pretty Maple and a larger pattern.

Delivers quite a punch with its current 43″ string length, this naturally can be modified by Upton Bass to the next owner’s liking. Originally had tuner plates, later replaced with individual Ebony key tuners.
