Mittenwald Double Bass, 1920s ex-Dick Kniss
This well preserved Mittenwald double bass comes with a serious folk and roots music pedigree. It was owned and played for many years by Dick Kniss, bass player for Peter, Paul & Mary. Kniss played in New York with the likes of Woody Herman and Herbie Hancock before joining the iconic folk trio in the early 1960s. Dick also cowrote, recorded and performed with John Denver.
This classic German bass has had its fair share of road action, but very original and well cared for. Has the original neck with reset modern projection. Has just been gone through here at the shop with a fresh setup, new fingerboard and bridge. Beautiful old stock flamed maple on this century old contrabass.
A great bass, on the larger side, with the mojo of countless music festivals!
