Description
Upton Bass imported these basses from Eastern Europe roughly from 2004-2006,
the intention being to provide an excellent instrument for classical students. A
soloist design with a very accessible upper bout and extra long C-bouts, these
instruments are very friendly for bowed work – with full depth ribs and large
lower bout they project a lot of bass and have an excellent pizzicato tone and
feel.
Robustly
built hybrids, the “Medio Finos” (a tribute to J.T. Lamy’s 19th Century
introductory line) are very tough and easy to live with, as this unscathed
example shows. They continue to surprise us with their musical flexibility –
very engaging and fun to play. The price includes a great-condition Mooradian bag!
