Fully laminated young Upton upright bass in great shape, played in and primed for decades of gigging. A plywood double bass stage warrior!
The bass was created with a few upgrades to our stock Bohemian build. The first was a “7/8” body…so we adhered to the Bohemian building points, but built it on our Mittenwald rib assembly! The second major upgrade was, as the bass was to have a lighter finish, the wood choice was upgraded to Birch. Birch is a bit harder than our stock poplar choice and a bit creamier in color which would give a warmer hue to the amber varnish. The laminated flat-back utilizes the same brace material and pattern as our solid wood flat-backs, so the bass has an elevated level of tone over a common laminated round-back.
Antiqued tuners and a full size (non-swooped) fingerboard give the bass an old world look with new world dependability!
