Here’s a nice Hawkes pattern fully laminated Upton from 2007, Opus “122 5-String.” The old UB Hawkes model had shells and necks built for us to our in-house designed specifications in Europe, then the neck was set, varnished and set up in our old shop in Mystic. This broad-shouldered large violin pattern would later inspire our Brescian basses. An easily maintained, affordable 5-string with loads of projection.
