Description
Each and every UB double bass takes weeks to make and requires a little bit of patience from the customer who has commissioned it. So when a used Upton comes our way (a very rare occurrence indeed!), it is usually snatched up by the first customer who plays it. Case in point, we recently had a consignment UB bass come in to our Boston shop. Ten minutes after it’s owner left, the bass was bought by another customer!
This low serial number UB Standard bass (#94) has a body fully constructed of poplar with a maple neck and ebony fingerboard. It has upgraded hat-peg tuners and a set of three dot inlays on the F, G and A. Strung with Thomastik Spirocore S42s (medium guage) and including bridge adjusters, the full famous Upton setup and a UB De La Ville bag, this booming bass would be a perfect instrument for bluegrass and blues and an excellent dark jazz bass.
