Upton Bass SuperSwing Hawkes Hybrid Double Bass, 2007

This Upton Bass Superswing is a rare hybrid version (most were fully laminated) of our popular blonde tribute made in the early aughts.  These instruments have the robust “Hawkes” pattern and really push a lot of air – with woods carefully selected for the ultra-revealing blonde varnish.  Makes a striking companion for any roots music gig, with all of the Upton playability, hybrid tone and around 20 decibels more bass than a Kay!

Upton Bass SuperSwing Opus 56 Hybrid – very few were made, and sometimes years pass between these becoming available used.

This one owner instrument never left the house and is in mint condition.

We estimate this bass would cost about $8,000 to build today in our current styles…and that’s assuming we’d even say yes to a blonde, which we haven’t done in YEARS!
