This is a direct copy of a bass attributed to Giovanni Batista Rogeri, 1718. Compact and extremely resonant, his historic instrument provides definition and depth.
Alas, city nightclubs don’t make the best home for three-hundred year old instruments. This bass directly copies the dimensions of Morrie’s original bass, with the addition of an adjustable/removable neck for travel. English Sycamore was used for the back and sides, with a select Spruce top.
Measurements, arching and f-holes were copied directly from the original. No effort was spared to directly transfer setup and feel from the historic bass to this Upton custom.Â
