Description

The Upton Bass “De la Ville” Double Bass Bag is truly the perfect double bass case for rigorous, real-world use. Lightweight (6 lbs.), highly protective, and inexpensive: the Upton Bass “De la Ville” is unparalleled in quality at this price point! Why is this double bass bag called “De la Ville”? De la ville can be loosely translated to “around town”—and that’s exactly what this bass bag is made for!

In 2005 Gary, owner and founder of Upton Bass, set out to build a durable yet light-weight bass bag for just over $100. Gary distinguished between the fundamental and “luxury” features of the deluxe double bass bag and worked closely with our factory to build a double bass bag that was worthy of the Upton Bass name. Prototypes of our Upton Bass “De la Ville” Double Bass Bag were road and gig-tested over many months to ensure that the handles were secure and the fabric would not tear. This double bass case was pulled in and out of trucks, cars, auditoriums, dorms, nightclubs and bars and still retained its excellent qualities of workmanship. Our real world testing gave Gary the confidence to begin production and put the Upton Bass name on the “De la Ville” Double Bass Bag.

This bag offers a great deal of protection yet is still easily handleable, lightweight easy to store. The handles seem very sturdy too. A great bargain.

For $89.00, this bag is hard to beat. Actually the price is kind of misleading, since this is not just another cheap bag but is actually a good quality product with some very nice features including 2 accessory pockets, a large music pocket, and a nice bow pocket. The zippers seem to be very good and are well placed. The shoulder strap is also very well done. The materials used all seem to be of good quality, and the padding and lining are surprisingly nice. If you need a bag and don’t have a lot of money to spend, the Upton de le ville is a great choice.

This bag is well made and good value for the money, but it is massively oversized for my 3/4 Upton standard hybrid. The width is fine, but the height is several inches too long. This makes the bag a bit hard to get on the bass, and it causes problems with the small space in my car where I can put the bass. I’ll probably replace it with a bag sized correctly. If you want a bag that actually fits your bass, I’d get something else.

I think UB has over-delivered with this bag and that is the way to do it in the mail order bus. or now in the day of (Email) sales. I am leaving this week to do 7 gigs in Canada and in desperate need of a bag and didn’t have unlimited funds to spend at this time. This bag seems to be everything you would want for vehicle travel, I have not road tested it yet, but look forward to it. The only question I might have with it is the bag is made to fit most 3/4 and 7/8 size basses, I would like a little more snug fit. It seems to be insulated well, has more storage pockets than my old bag and is very attractive. I think that UB hit a home run with this product!

A little big for a 3/4, but handles and pockets all in the right places. Good quality bag.

Use this to carry my Folding Bass around town. The carry strap is sturdy and reliable, handles in all the right places. Zippers work very well. It’s a little roomy for this 3/4 size bass, but I don’t mind at all. Solid, reliable, light weight and easy to handle. Happy to have found a bag with lighter padding that’s easier to stow and handle. Very satisfied.
