Velvet Compas 180 Double Bass Strings have excellent arco response and are designed for orchestral tuning. The use of up-to-date textile fibers makes the strings particularly elastic, producing a full, rich, open sound. The pizzicato is strong with long sustain. Velvet Compas 180 Double Bass Strings respond perfectly to the harmonics, which are crystal-clear. They require no change in playing technique by the instrumentalist, while opening up new possibilities in terms of sound, tone, and modulation. Compas 180 are thinner strings, but are very close in diameter to regular metal strings. Indicated for arco playing, they have an Inox winding instead of copper that makes the bow grab better the string. Nowadays we are seeing lots of jazz players who do arco work using the Compas 180s as hybrid strings.
