Pictured here is a very early Kay, the tag is gone but the penciled serial
number is 5382, which would place it very early in Kay production, 1939
according to Roger Stowers’ Kay serial list. Replacement bridge and
tailpiece, otherwise very original with ebonized maple neck. Has some
issues, most notably a neck repair near the nut which was pegged – hard to tell
how old the work is. The ribs bow in at the endpin block, otherwise body appears
to be strong. A great project for the Kay enthusiast to restore in stages,
or just to play and put more miles on! Includes Mooradian Bag.
