Booker on a Brescian

Bassist Adam Booker shared this video of his performance at BASSEURO2018 in Lucca, Italy at the San Romano church. The bass is a UB Brescian hybrid model Gary Upton generously donated to Bass Europe as a grant bass in 2012 at Copenhagen, which is gifted to deserving double bassists for two years.  We've gotten to know the recipient's over the years, and they have all been amazing players who we've been honored to have played this bass! “Parris” Brescian Model Double Bass

Here's a very special Brescian in our shop, a beautiful instrument that awaits it's owner. We want to send him a special photo montage for Thanksgiving. We love the dark hand rubbed varnish on this bass, it's been a reference for many more to follow. It awaits a Navy sailor who was stationed out of Newport - he had been playing a Standard Hybrid and decide to trade in/trade up prior to getting restationed. So he commissioned this choice flatback Brescian and soon learned he'd be stationed out of Italy at work in the Mediterranean for 3 years! He didn’t want…

“Cataldi” Brescian Model Double Bass

Fully carved Brescian with rippling figured maple back and sides. Deep reddish amber varnish brings out the historic cues on this bass, and the stunning wood continues to the top of the scroll. Custom brass scroll plates complete the bass along with edge bumpers. Pics don't really do it justice!  A very special instrument with terrific presence.
