WOW! We got a ton of feedback from last weeks video! Some didn’t know there was a difference, some said it doesn’t matter and it’s a horrible way to tell where you are on the neck, but MOST just wanted to know why there was any difference at all. We have we transitioned to D from Eb?
I think this is one of those questions where you ask 10 people why and you’ll get 8 different answers, but our personal preference on the D neck is it leaves a bit more material in the neck heel…one of the most delicate (and sure to break points in a trauma) parts of a violin family instrument.
