We’ve enjoyed building a decked out Mittenwald that soon will live out its years in Japan. It started its life in the pacific northwest, a tree struck by lightning left standing for years, and the amazing big leaf maple dried and cured to what it is today... We love the dark hand rubbed varnish on this bass, it’s been a reference for many more to follow. It awaits a Navy sailor who was stationed out of Newport – he had been playing a Standard Hybrid and decide to trade in/trade up prior to getting restationed. Deep reddish amber varnish brings out the historic cues on this bass, and the stunning wood continues to the top of the scroll. Custom brass scroll plates complete the bass along with edge bumpers.
