Double Bass Buyer’s Appraisal by Upton Bass

This service is an extension of our “verbal” appraisal service conducted over the phone or virtually. Neither are to be confused with a proper in-person Bench Appraisal of a double bass for valuation and insurance purposes. Our Buyer’s Consultation is a version tailored for prospective buyers of double basses, where we work with the materials you have to give our honest evaluation of an instrument you may be considering.

The Upton Bass Buyer’s Consultation brings our experience to bear in evaluating an instrument you may be interested in, to give you a professional opinion regarding the value of an available instrument even if we’re not selling it to you. Whether it’s a Kay or an important symphonic double bass, we can review the listing, photos, background and provenance to give you peace of mind before you buy. In some cases we’re actually familiar with or have worked on the very bass you might be considering!

A high quality instrument is an important investment for any musician and being treated unfairly in an online transaction stings badly at any budget. Our expert third party opinion can give you peace of mind for this important purchase.

After you have placed your order, you’ll engage in a phone or email consultation where we can make a plan based on the materials available to you. In many cases we can review a listing with you in real time. We will keep a record of our consultation and those materials and can back you up if there are questions on whether the instrument had been properly represented once delivered.

If you need something more than an appraisal, for example receiving shipped instruments, modifying to your liking after taking delivery, or crating and shipping – please call us to make specific arrangements! Phone# We’ve done it all.

For truly valuable instruments, we can act as a receiving appraiser… ?
