Description

Pirastro Chorda Double Bass Strings are constructed of a sheep gut core that is manufactured, wound, and polished by hand. The Chorda G and D strings are plain sheep gut strings, while the A and E strings are wound with silver-plated copper wire. Pirastro Chorda Double Bass Strings offer a warm and dynamic sound with long sustain. They are a light tension string and are very comfortable under the left hand. The light tension and even sound also allows the pizzicato player to achieve great volume and inflection. Pirastro Chorda Double Bass Strings are especially suited for pizzicato, and are notable as an authentic string choice for early/traditional music styles such as rockabilly, blues, and bluegrass. Despite being described as a light tension set, some players have indicated that these strings are a bit tight for aggressive styles. If you are seeking a lower tension gut core string, the Clef Gut Jazz set with silver-wound A&E are a solid option.

Regarding the sound, Chorda’s are described as being brighter than the Oliv string set.

Highlights:

  • Gut strings
  • Warm sound
  • Long sustain
