Description
Pictured here is an American Standard plywood double bass, from the H.N.
White Company in Cleveland Ohio, Serial Number 2688 which places it in their
production of 1957.
The setup has been modernized, string length is down slightly to 42.5″, with
a thick ebony board and excellent bridge installed by Arnold Schnitzer.
The neck heel has experienced a not-uncommon break, expertly repaired by Mr.
Schnitzer and in very strong condition (Upton Bass actually sold this instrument
to the current owner eight years ago after the work was done -we are very
confident in the stability of the repair!)
This is a strong example of an upright bass classic that you
ought to play in person if you have a yen for that big American Standard sound!
Currently in our Stonington Connecticut location. Price includes a lightweight
bag.
