Healthy 1940s Kay M1B Double Bass modified with a flat back. Classic American plywood bass plays great with a musician’s price.
This blonde Kay M1B double bass has been worked on but plays well and is nice and healthy. It has a flat replacement back which seems to have been well done. Although the back isn’t strictly authentic it adds some punch, and sounds good. Seems it was refinished at the time, and is missing the painted purfling. From Kay’s heyday in the 1940s. All in all a nice player’s plywood instrument with still some original vintage details at a good price!
