SOLD: UB Professor POPLAR Standard Double Bass

-

Select hand carved German Spruce top, slab cut Poplar flat-back & sides, inlaid purfling.  THE BEST VALUED DOUBLE BASS IN THE WORLD?

Description

We
think so!  A made in America solid wood double bass that competes with
European AND Chinese basses in price point!!!  The NEW UB Professor POPLAR
Standard is truly CHAMPAGNE taste on a BEER budget!

Poplar has not been a common choice for
recent commercial instrument making; however, Cremona’s masters of centuries ago recognized poplar’s acoustical merits.
Amati,
Stradivarius, Guarneri and others used poplar to create masterful instruments during a truly golden age of instrument making.

The UB Professor POPLAR
Standard pays homage to the master builders of yesteryear by sporting a solid poplar flat-back and sides.  The Prof. Poplar Deluxe Double Bass produces a warm, lush tone with incredible clarity and projection.  The flat-back construction
and unique tone enhancing bracing coupled with a solid spruce top with Germanic
arching generate a remarkable immediacy in response-both arco and pizzicato.  The sum of all the parts makes for an instrument that is equally impressive in orchestral, jazz, and solo performance.  Collegiate bassists and working professionals can be required to play an incredible array of styles in many settings.
With the UB Professor Poplar Standard Double Bass, moving from the solo spotlight, to the orchestral section, and then onto the jazz club can be done with ease!

We’re very excited about this beautiful new offering from Upton Bass!
