Description
This bass was conceived of by the customer for bowed solo work. After much searching and many near misses, he brought his ideas to Upton Bass to be realized.
He was looking for a tenor contrabass, tuned in fifths – F,C,G,D, the low string tuned one fifth below a cello. A half-step extension was subsequently added to allow the F to reach an E for normal bass ranges. The instrument size is larger than a cello with a scale length of 35.4 Inches (90cm). Truly a unique instrument with brilliant, singing clarity.
