Description
Pirastro Jazzer Double Bass Strings are optimized for the modern jazz player, and are famous for quick string response and long sustain. Constructed with a high-tensile rope core made from carbon steel which is wound with chrome steel, Pirastro Jazzer Double Bass Strings are created to provide the superb pizzicato response. They are a versatile string with a complex sound that is both bright and powerful.
Gary’s Thoughts:
Pirastro Jazzer Double Bass Strings are not bow friendly, but that is to be expected as they are labelled “jazz” strings. As jazz double bassists however, we do bow sometimes and I find the strings a bit…well…WAY too bright, even for pizzicato. Not only that, they lack evenness. Jazzer’s are an okay substitute for Spirocore’s but they seem to modulate (go sharp in pitch at initial attack) quite a bit when I dig in. They seem to lack an evenness from string to string, and I prefer the sound of the E and A string over the D and G string. Although it’s a neat and quirky idea to have the ballends wrapped in rainbow colors, although not the look I want on my bass. It’s a little too “Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat” for my taste.
Highlights:
- Rope core steel strings
- Modern jazz string
- Very bright and powerful sound
- Long sustain
