“Brock” Mittenwald Model Double Bass

Dave Anderson 15th August 2018
This impressive Upton Mittenwald double bass was built as a hybrid with birch wood veneers on the back and sides. The birch upgrade lends a buttery undertone to the lighter varnish. Brass antiqued scroll plates and tuners and a Rev Solo pickup complete the package. [gallery size="large" ids="68030,68031,68036,68032,68035,68033,68038,68037,68034"]

“USAF” Mittenwald Model Upton Double Bass

Dave Anderson 18th November 2016
Off we go, into the wild blue yonder!  We've nicknamed this "Air Force One" although it's really our third bass for the US Air Force Band.  Ironically, we are now providing fully-carved Mittenwalds to this stalwart musical force, having replaced a famous Mittenwald maker as their supplier of double basses.  Round back, fixed neck, no exotic wood choices, just straightforward air-moving power here - soon to be pushing low end all over the world! “Wortsmith” Fully Carved Mittenwald Model Upton Double Bass

Dave Anderson 26th March 2015

This solid bodied roundback edition was built with choice European Sycamore back and ribs.  The medium amber varnish brings out a gold in the flamed maple which photos do not do justice!  Used for progressive bluegrass, jazz and classical – truly an all-rounder. Finished with mother of pearl side fingerboard dot inlays. *Click here to […]

“Zipprich” Flat Back Solid Wood Mittenwald Double Bass

Dave Anderson 10th December 2014

Here’s a nice example of a straightforward solid flatback Mittenwald model. Domestic big leaf maple back and sides, with a burgundy tint in a nod to classic 19th Century Mittenwalds!
