Andreas Morelli Double Bass, c1920 Germany, UB Restoration

Fresh UB restoration of a high-quality Andreas Morelli-branded German double bass from the 1920s. A great team effort results in a beautiful instrument saved. Call Eric for full details on its rebuild +1 (860) 535-9399.

This Andreas Morelli double bass is a quality German-built fully carved instrument from the early 20th Century. We’ve seen a few Morellis and they share an attractive long design – a long shape, long ff-holes, long scroll and a long scale. Originally this would have been in 43.5″ string-length territory. A just-completed Upton Bass restoration has brought it back to life with a modern overstand and a more usable 42″ scale on thick new Ebony. It’s gorgeous! Currently strung with Evah Pirazzis, ready for your audition.

Much more on this restoration to come!
