Description

New Standard Double Bass with C-Extension, Arnold Schnitzer & Wil DeSola, New York, 2003

New Standard was a project from some of the Northeast’s finest bass luthiers, Arnold Schnitzer (now of New Mexico) and Wil DeSola. Quality European shells were expertly finished in their workshops in upstate New York. This is a fully-laminated version, with an excellent C-Extension that has that signature big, rounded American Standard shape.

A crack on the outer ply of the back accompanies a bulge which has been addressed and fixed internally by Arnold Schnitzer himself. This blemish makes this bass a great deal – a once $5,000 plywood with a $3,500 C-Extension can be snapped up at a musician discount!
